Mining
activities of Şişecam Group started with the establishment
of Glass Industry in Turkey in 1932. First Silica Sand
was produced in Yalıköy, then called Podima, near İstanbul
on the Black Sea Coast.
In 1988 all the mining activities of the group which was seen as strategic and kept under Group’s control, were combined and Camiş Madencilik A.Ş. was formed.
The main participants in the company formation which had a capital of 12 MilyarTL.were:
